Designers at Six Senses<\/h1>\n

I\u2019m very happy to share with you each day of this week an interview of\u00a0Neil Jacobs,\u00a0the chief executive officer at Six Senses, about the Art of hospitality and the brand Six Senses.<\/p>\n

What is our difference in term of construction and Design ? How do we select our Designer, architect to build our hotels ? Who are they ? How to they translate our brand in their design ?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Six Senses has a skilled team dedicated to architecture and technical services. This group oversees design, construction and project management. For example Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain, opening next year, is also located at a UNESCO World Heritage site in the Chinese province of Sichuan.<\/p>\n

The 111-suite resort has been brilliantly designed to incorporate regional architecture and landscaping, resulting in an extraordinary cultural offering with a strong sense of place wedded to contemporary attitude. From an operational side, great attention is placed on hiring the right hosts, rolling out brand- and property-specific standards and creating experiences that are unique and special to the location. This applies to everything – from creating restaurant menus, crafting guest activities to developing locally-inspired spa treatments and even unique guest room collateral.<\/p>\n

Sustainability is at the heart and soul of Six Senses. In our development, design and daily operations, we act responsibly to measure and minimize our carbon footprint and impact on the environment, all through active management of energy, water, waste, biodiversity, purchasing and chemicals usage.<\/p>\n

Locally inspired and sustainably sourced, our cuisine is designed to appeal to those seeking a taste away from home. Ingredients come from resort gardens, local farmers, markets and fishermen and are served by our chefs and hosts from around the world in unique backdrops, transforming meals into unforgettable moments. Six Senses features organic gardens and nurseries at every property.<\/p>\n

In regards to development, we\u2019re seeing a great desire from developers and owners to create resorts and hotels that are culturally sensitive with a solid understanding of sustainable practices.<\/p>\n

Six Senses Freedom Bay in St Lucia and Six Senses Douro Valley in Portugal are both located inside UNESCO World Heritage Sites. As a brand we want our guests to reconnect with themselves. It\u2019s our aim to inspire our guests to rediscover nature, true beauty and the world. This vision beautifully supports and complements the destinations and unique projects in which we are expanding. And I do have to add, we have a full-time vice president of sustainability who sits on our executive committee.<\/p>\n
